Portia York, Ph.D., M.B.A.
Dr. Portia York is an acclaimed strategist, educator, and executive leader with over 18 years of experience driving impact across the education, nonprofit, and public sectors. Recognized for her expertise in strategic planning, organizational development, program innovation, and fundraising, she holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (Urban Education) and a Master of Management in Business.
As an Education and Management Consultant, Dr. York partners with mission-driven organizations across the Carolinas and beyond to strengthen infrastructure, expand revenue, and build sustainable growth models. In Rock Hill, she consults as Director of Strategic Development and Operations for the Black Economic Leadership League, driving organizational alignment, financial sustainability, and initiatives focused on Black economic mobility. She also consults as Executive Director of the Augustus Institute for the Sciences and Medicinal Arts, guiding the organizational vision and advancing interdisciplinary research across education, science, technology, and health. Her broader consulting portfolio includes work with Campus Without Walls, where alongside the former Massachusetts Secretary of Workforce Development she co-developed an innovative, virtual live career pathways model connecting education, industry, and community partners.
Dr. York's executive background also includes serving as Director of Advancement at The John Crosland School, where she generated over $2.5 million annually in diversified revenue, as well as founding York Creative Education Group. Her work is built upon 15 years as a school administrator leading programs for students with learning differences, equipping her to build inclusive, student-centered, and culturally responsive environments.
In higher education, Dr. York brings her management and creative background directly to the classroom. She teaches Business Administration courses at Central Piedmont Community College, and Fiber Arts at Lenoir-Rhyne University, following prior faculty service at UNC Charlotte.
Dr. York is also an accomplished fiber artist, researcher, and author of The Influence of Dramatic Arts on Literacies for Black Girls in Middle School. Holding a Master Certification in Advanced Crochet Stitches and Techniques, her creative practice explores identity, well-being, and the convergence of mathematics and art, with research focused on leveraging fiber arts to engage Black girls in STEAM and regularly exhibits her collections regionally.

As Co-Owner of Another Level Consulting, she partners with behavioral health providers, private practices, and healthcare organizations to develop efficient business operations, optimize revenue cycle management, and implement scalable processes that support organizational growth.
A military veteran, Triva brings disciplined leadership, strategic problem-solving, and operational excellence to every engagement. Her expertise spans behavioral health practice management, medical billing and coding, healthcare accounting, office administration, compliance support, workflow optimization, and organizational development. She is particularly passionate about helping new and expanding behavioral health practices establish the systems, policies, and procedures needed to launch successfully and operate with confidence.
Throughout her career, Triva has guided healthcare organizations through operational transitions, process improvements, and practice growth initiatives.
