Congratulations! You scheduled your first counseling appointment. Now what?

Updated: May 16, 2021

We are so proud that you took the first step to schedule a counseling appointment! You've taken the hardest step. If you are new to Another Level Counseling and Consultation, we're sure you have several questions. This guide provides additional information about what to expect. If you have questions or run into any problems, please feel to email us at info@anotherlevelcounseling.com.

  1. Once you schedule an appointment, you will receive an email from our agency asking you to complete new client intake paperwork. Please complete this paperwork within 48 hours of scheduling your appointment.

  2. The intake paperwork includes information about why you are seeking counseling, consent forms, and screening forms.

  3. If you do not receive an email immediately after scheduling your appointment, this means that we may not have a working email address for you or our system was unable to deliver your forms. Please call our office back to confirm your email address (704-548-5298).

  4. Once this paperwork is completed, we will verify your insurance and determine if you owe anything out of pocket. If we don't receive your paperwork back timely electronically, you may be responsible for the entire amount of the session until we can verify your insurance.

  5. Please note that our appointments continue to primarily be through telehealth and are not in the office for safety reasons. Please do not come to our office unless the therapist confirms this directly with you.

  6. You will receive a link by email for your appointment.

  7. Simply click on the link and you will enter the secure and confidential online room with your therapist. You can join by computer or smartphone.

  8. During your first session, the therapist will introduce themselves and let you know more about what to expect. In the first session, we will complete an assessment to understand more about your reasons for seeking counseling. The session will last about 45-50 minutes.

  9. At the end of the session, we will discuss your goals for therapy and how frequently you may want to return for counseling sessions.

  10. Your therapist will schedule your next session. If you have a copayment for your session, your therapist will collect your card information to complete an online transaction.

  11. You have now completed your first appointment and if necessary, your therapist will see you for your next appointment.

  12. Congratulations on taking care of your mental health. We're here to support you and to help you live a satisfying and happy life.
